"Lavender is good for all griefs and pains of the head and brain."

I find it hard to sleep at night. I tried. I closed my laptop at 9:00 in the evening, remove all possible distractions, tried to listen to my jam but nothing. I ended up sleeping at 4:00 in the morning. It is very hard. I have work at 10 in the morning until 7 in the evening. I wanted some answers. I tried ointments and liniments to treat my sleep problem. I tried them hoping that it will provide the relaxing feeling I thought that will help me to fall into sleep. But that menthol feeling from ointments doesn’t bring any help to solve my problem. Also, it’s scent is it’s not pleasing.

I’ve been  looking for solutions for this problem. Until I found an oil that contains extracts from specific herbs in its ingredients. One of its ingredients is said to be a cure for people who suffers with insomnia. What herb is it? Lavender. People say that lavender helps us to improve our sleep. To prove it, a lot of researches have proven the effectiveness of lavender.

The Power of Lavender

What Folk Medicine Says.

During the middle ages, this plant was used as an aphrodisiac. Also, lavender is good for all griefs and pains of the head and brain.

What We Know.

Research shows that the scent of lavender eases anxiety and insomnia. In one study done at Britain’s University and Southampton, they tracked the sleep patterns of 10 adults. For a week, half of the participants slept in room where lavender essential oil was diffused in the air throughout the night. The rest snoozed in a similar room where sweet almond oil was released.

After a week, the groups switched. At the end of the study, the volunteers ranked the quality of their sleep 20% better on average when in the lavender-scented room.

What New Researchers Show.

Psychologist at Wesleyan University asked 31 men and women to sniff lavender essential oil one night and then distilled water the next for four 2-minutes periods just before bedtime. The researchers monitored their sleep cycles with brain scans. On the night they sniffed the herb, subjects slept more soundly; they also felt more energetic the nxet morning.
