What Is Serotonin?
Did you know that when you increase your SEROTONIN in your body naturally, it can enhance your mental health and motivation?
SEROTONIN is a neurotransmitter that can influence many things throughout your body like your mood, memory, sleep cycle, and even your sex drive!
It’s safe to say that when you increase your SEROTONIN, you can be a BETTER you… The question is how? Here at OLEIA, we highly encourage going ALL NATURAL. So today, I will be giving you 7 things you can do that can increase your SEROTONIN naturally.

Eat Tryptophan
Tryptophan is an amino acid that majorly helps in your body’s production of of SEROTONIN. Eggs are pretty high in Tryptophan. Personally, I consume 6 eggs per day. Which means, 33 eggs per week. But remember, it has to depend on your diet. Other foods that are high in Tryptophan are cheese, tofu, salmon and nuts.

Get A Massage
Massage, aside from the fact that it relaxes your body, it also helps reduce your cortisol levels. When you have too much of this hormone in your body, it can block SEROTONIN from being produced. Now, I may sound biased, but the best oil to use for massages is none other than our very own OLEIA TOPICAL oil that comes in 3 scents, Chamomile, Lavender, & Peppermint. Stop pain and inflammation while increasing your SEROTONIN.

Get Some Sun
Mornings and late afternoons should not be taken for granted. Not getting sun can affect our mood. Sunrise and even sunset can initiate SEROTONIN production in our brains. You only need at least 15 to 20 minutes of exposure. Yours truly has made it a habit to do some stretching and jogging in the morning and thus, it makes my days more vibrant and full of energy.

Be Positive
Let’s face it. When you do things that you enjoy, you feel better. These new patterns of positivity can help you create more SEROTONIN. Minimize all the negativities like insecurities, anger, fear and even pride. The less you worry, the better your outlook in life will be.

Eat Less Sugar
This may be something that you and I will have a hard time doing. I admit, I am a sucker for chocolates and desserts. But when we do eat them, we feel a crash soon after. Try consuming a little less of these foods and find a more natural source for SEROTONIN.

Meditate
When was the last time you cleared your mind from everything else? Meditating raises an acid call 5-HIAA that is directly related to SEROTONIN. Try to find a meditating practice that suits you. I find praying and reading the bible a good meditation as it helps my spirit draw closer to the Almighty. It may work for you too.

Exercise
You can hit the gym, jog in the afternoon, or have regular and healthy sex. Simply put, any activity that gets your blood going and your heart pumping also contributes to the production of SEROTONIN. In fact, when you start exercising, it will also open doors for you to do the ones I mentioned above. Not bad.
Feeling good about yourself and staying motivated all the time is healthy for you and the people you are around with everyday. And every thing starts with the mind. As what the saying goes…
It’s just a matter of the mind. When you don’t mind, it doesn’t matter! 😉
