Arthritis Pain Relief
You have probably seen apple cider vinegar (ACV) cropping up all over the place as a wonderful healing food that can help with a range of health conditions, from arthritis to weight loss. Is there any fact behind these claims, or is it all just fiction?
Osteoarthritis (OA) can happen at any age, but most often after 45, and causes chronic pain, inflammation, and stiffness in the fingers, hands, back, knees and hips. There is no cures for OA, but there are a wide range of effective natural pain relief methods that can help you manage pain.
ACV may seem like a new fad, but it’s been used for thousands of years in traditional medicine as an effective natural remedy for arthritis pain relief. There might be several reasons why it is so effective.
The first is that it replaces lost mineral the bones and joints need to stay healthy. ACV can help on its own, or as part of bone broth.
Bone broth involved boiling up in water and ACV fish or animal bones for 8 to 72 hours in order to leach all of the minerals, amino acids, and other nutrients from the bones.
Bone broth is rich in potassium, calcium and phosphorus, all building blocks of healthy bone. ACV has calcium and helps the body absorb it and other nutrients.
Bone broth is rich in collagen, which helps maintain healthy cartilage in our joints. The Vitamin C in ACV also boosts collagen production.
ACV contains antioxidants, beta-carotene, and acetic acid. Antioxidants fight the damaging effects of free radicals, believed to be the main cause of aging. Free radicals are the result of various natural processes in the body, but can get out of control due to pollution, poor self-care, smoking, stress and a bad diet.
Free radicals attack our cells and even DNA, a process known as oxidative stress. Antioxidants protect cells and DNA by neutralizing free radicals. Antioxidants such as those in ACV can therefore prevent or reduce the cell and tissue damage characteristic of degenerative conditions like arthritis.
ACV is rich in enzymes and acids that promote proper digestion and the absorption of the nutrients essential to healthy joints. ACV also flushes out toxins, reducing the pain and stiffness in the joints.
ACV contains malic acid that helps break down and eliminate uric acid. Apple cider vinegar also helps restore the alkaline acid balance in the body and provides anti-inflammatory and antioxidant benefits.
Add one teaspoon of raw, organic, unpasteurized apple cider vinegar to a glass of water. Drink this solution two or three times a day and see what a difference it can make to your osteoarthritis or gouty arthritis pain.
